Isle of Man 2025 5 Days

Isle of Man 2025 5 Days

Situated between the coastlines of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, in the middle of the Irish sea, is the Isle of Man. Featuring visits to the award winning Manx Ices and the famous Laxey Wheel,

Rutland Hotel, Douglas

Enjoying a prime location on the sea front at the northern end of Douglas promenade, the Rutland Hotel offers contemporary bedroom accommodation and a bright restaurant. Unfortunately, the hotel is unsuitable for those with extreme walking difficulties due to the steep steps at the entrance.

Itinerary

Day 1
Early afternoon crossing from Heysham to the Isle of Man and on to the hotel in the popular town of Douglas.

Day 2
First stop today is Castletown, once the centre of 19th century political life on the Isle of Man. From here you will see the wonderfully preserved Castle Rushen before heading on to unmissable, spectacular views of Calf Sound. Continue to Cregneash, with admission to the National Folk Museum. Set in beautiful countryside, explore the thatched Manx cottages. Journey on for time at leisure in Port Erin, nestling in its scenic bay, before hopping aboard the island's heritage steam railway for the journey back to Douglas.

Day 3
This morning is in Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town. Here, we include admission to the House of Manannan, where the Island's mythological sea god, Manannan, welcomes you to his fascinating Kingdom and guides you through the Island's rich Celtic, Viking and maritime past. Take time to stroll along Peel's beach or relax in one of the cafes before returning to Douglas for time at leisure.

Day 4
We begin the day by joining the Manx Electric Railway. Built between 1893 and 1899, it connects the Island's capital, Douglas, with Laxey in the east. At Laxey, we join the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a spectacular climb to the islands highest point at 2036 feet before visiting the 'Lady Isabella', the world's largest working watermill. Continue on to Ramsey by coach, the main town in the north of the island, where we include admission to the fine-looking Milntown Gardens.

Day 5
Morning crossing back to Heysham and homeward bound.
